Praise in the Park

About

Over the years, the City of Rockford has earned the distinction of being a community of music.  This comes from the Rogue River Blues series, Open Mic Night at the Dam, and Praise in the Park.  All of these events take place in the Garden Club Park on different nights.

It was in the summer of 2011 that Praise in the Park made its’ first appearance on the stage of the
Rockford Garden Club Park.  The idea of the event had been in the mind of the creator, Rich Moll, for several years prior, but needed a push from another to get the ball rolling.  It was a praise team leader from a local church that approached Moll, then a city council member, about the possibility of having his church play music in downtown Rockford.  This push was all it took.  With the efforts of these two individuals, Praise in the Park took root and grew into the event it is today.

That first year had seven churches performing for twelve weeks, which meant that some churches performed for more than one Sunday. In 2014 the event grew to sixteen weeks with thirteen churches and three Christian bands performing and this year it looks to be another great line-up with twelve churches and two bands.

Moll has more ideas in the planning stage right now that he hopes will happen within the next year.
